When learning new a concept it helps to have a method that best suits your learning style.

Some considerations:

  • Do you learn by reading the documentation?

  • Are you more of a visual learner?

  • Does getting your hands on the technology work best for you?

What worked best for me:

  • Reading the material

  • Watching tutorials

  • Taking notes in my own words

  • Then I would create a test environment to see the expected behavior of the technology.

  • For example, if you wish to get more hands-on learning for Microsoft's tech stack, you may want to visit here

This can give you a better understanding when administering and troubleshooting applications such as SharePoint, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, and more.

  • If you would like to configure a test lab using the power of Microsoft 365, visit here

Note: You can also compare home versions and business versions of Microsoft 365 here

  • Choose the option that best suits your need.

  • Choose "Try 1 month free"

Note: After your 1-month free trial, Microsoft 365 has a fee that will be charged. Your credit card is required. You can cancel anytime to stop future charges.

Depending on which option you choose, you will want to make note of when you start your free trial.

  • Enter the email address you wish to use to configure your tenant.

  • Then choose "Set up account"

  • Microsoft will want you to share your standard contact information such as name, company name, company size, and region.

  • Once you complete these steps choose "Next"

  • In the following step you will choose which method you would like to choose to send a verification code.

  • Choose your country code and enter your phone number.

  • Choose "Send verification code."

  • Once you receive your code you will enter it into the space provided on the page, then choose "Verify".

  • Next, you will create your username. Microsoft will provide a domain name as a suggestion you can change it now or later. Choose the option that best meets your need.

Note: You will see your

  • Next set and confirm your password, and choose "next."

The following step could seem scary, but keep in mind that the first month is free.

  • Verify your product name matches what you want to use for your free trial. For example, Microsoft 365 Business Standard Trial.

You will see pricing and have an option for the quantity you wish to use.

-Choose "Add payment method" and enter your payment information and choose "Save."

Note: The "Trial details" section will show you how many users you can have during your trial and the free trial will be automatically converted to a paid annual subscription after one month. If you want to avoid charges it shows you the date you will want to cancel your subscription in the Microsoft 365 Admin center.

  • Finally, when you are ready you will choose "Start trial"

And Voila!

You did it you now have 1 month to dive in and test out what Microsoft 365 has to offer.
